A group of nursing students are credited with helping the victim of an early-morning car accident Thursday, according to RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.

“On March 30 … at approximately 8 a.m, Castlegar RCMP along with Castlegar Fire Department and EMS attended a single-vehicle roll-over accident on Columbia Avenue just north of Minto Road in Castlegar,” she said.

“It appears that the 27-year-old female driver fell asleep and went off road (to the) right, rolling the car into the ditch. She was able to get out of the car on her own, and was unhurt.”

Mathew said speed and alcohol are not considered factors, and no other vehicles were involved.

“The RCMP would like to pass on their appreciation to the car full of nursing students who stopped to offer their assistance.”
