News Flash!  Rosslanders who join Rossland Carshare now have access to a pick-up truck as well as a car.  The 2000 Ford Ranger is a new addition, and is here on a trial basis, to assess demand.  Hint:  joining Carshare will be much less expensive than buying, insuring, and maintaining a pick-up truck of your very own for those  occasions when you  need to transport  stuff that won’t fit in the car.  Or in your bike trailer.

For those who own a car or are thinking of owning a car, or who might need a second vehicle once in a while, Rossland Carshare’s original vehicle is also available to members:  it’s a standard-transmission, 4-speed Toyota Matrix hatchback.

The Ford Ranger is a 4×4 with automatic transmission — perfect for taking bulky stuff to the dump, or shuttling bikes around.

The Rossland Sustainability Commission’s press release says,

“If you’ve been debating adding that second vehicle to your household, this is the time to sign up for the carshare. With your fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs included in membership and fees, the carshare is a great low-cost, low-maintenance opportunity to have access to another vehicle. As a member, you have access to all cars in the 5 other communities with the Kootenay Carshare Co-op (Fernie, Kaslo, Kimberley, Nelson, Revelstoke).

“Save money, reduce greenhouse gases in our community, and reduce the stress on our over-used infrastructure: go to www.carsharecoop.ca or contact Ann at adamude@telus.net for more information.”
