’15 in 15′ You Can Make the Difference

The new Youth Action Network (YAN) Space will be a community hub that provides a safe place for youth to connect, to learn new skills and to participate in positive experiences.  The support we have received from businesses, trades people and individuals who want to help has been inspiring!

The Rossland Youth Action Network is asking the community to join them in completing the project by supporting the ‘15 in 15’ You Can Make the Difference Matching Campaign.

“Local businesses and individuals have shown their commitment to supporting our youth by generously donating funds to launch the‘15 in 15’ You Can Make a Difference Matching Campaign.  These funders have committed to match community donations dollar for dollar up to $7500 between November 9th – 23rd, with the goal of raising $15,000 in 15 days. This effort will provide much needed funds to open the doors of the new YAN Space.” says Mike Kent, YAN Coordinator

Donations can be made at http://yanspace15in15.yodel.org/ or at city hall with cheques made out to City Of Rossland – YAN. Donations of $25 or more  receive a tax receipt from the City of Rossland. Yodel.org is waiving all administration fees for the use of this site for this campaign. Please help the Rossland YAN spread the word about the ‘15 in 15’ You Can Make a Difference Matching Campaign to your own network of friends.

The staff at YAN say, “We would like to give a big thanks to the following businesses and individuals who have made this campaign possible! Crossline Films, Dr Cindy Loukras, The Alpine Grind, Jeff Weaver, Revolution Cycle, The Rossland Youth Service Group, Jim Firstbrook, Mountain Town Properties, Sarah & Scot Mountain, Engen Services, and Ripple Effect Consulting.”

More Information about the project…

In December 2015, the City of Rossland reallocated a building to create a sustainable, rent free, dedicated youth space in Rossland. This building, located between Rossland Summit School and the site of the Rossland Skatepark, is ideal for youth engagement and programming but required extensive renovations valued at $200,000. Through a combination of in kind donations and discounts from contractors and suppliers, work of volunteers, grants, and fundraising, the project is almost complete.
