Kidnapping and Assault in Trail

On July 12, 2009, at approximately 9:00 p.m. a male in his mid 20’s attended the Trail & Greater District Detachment to report that he had been assaulted in his residence in Trail earlier that morning and his girlfriend abducted by the assailant. Apparently it was over money that he allegedly owed. He had also been assaulted in his home the previous day over the same issue.

Subsequent investigation determined the girlfriend was sexually assaulted then released. She did not suffer any physical injuries. Approximately four hours later, two males aged 32 and 39 years were located in separate vehicles in Trail and Warfield and arrested. One male is charged with break and enter of a residence, extortion, uttering threats and assault. The other is charged with break and enter of a residence, assault causing bodily harm, kidnapping, utter threats and sexual assault.

The accused are now identified as Rodney Melvin VILENE (39 years) of Trail and David Grant MACK (32 years) of Warfield. Both remain in custody, with VILENE next appearing in Rossland Provincial Court on July 20, 2009 and MACK appearing in Castlegar Provincial Court on July 15, 2009.
