Investigation of fatal collision near Revelstoke reveals 160 lbs of marihuana hidden in truck

A fatal collision on Tuesday near Revelstoke involving a tractor-trailer has revealed 160 pounds of marihuana hidden in a commercial truck, according to Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky.

“At approximately 6 a.m. on Nov. 17, the Revelstoke RCMP General Duty officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway approximately 35 kms east of Revelstoke,” Grabinsky said in a press release. “In addition to the General Duty officers, the Trans Canada East Traffic Services unit also attended and commenced an investigation into the two commercial vehicle head-on collision as it had been determined that the collision had resulted in a fatality. One male in the east-bound tractor died as a result of the collision. The cause of the incident is being investigated.”

He said two men, one from each vehicle, were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

“Through the course of the investigation, a large quantity of marihuana was located in the tractor trailer power unit. The marihuana was seized and the matter is still under investigation. Approximately 160 lbs of marihuana was being transported east bound through the Revelstoke area, on the Trans-Canada Highway.”
