I Can Take a Hundred Books? Wow!

With the library’s long-awaited renovation work starting in September, the Rossland Public Library is asking for Rosslanders to become “foster librarians” to their books.  The Library will be closed for three months; Saturday, August 25 will be the last day the library is open before construction work begins. Readers please note:  inter-library loans are no longer available until renovations are complete.

All those books in the library need to be stored somewhere during construction.  Rather than packing them all up and making them inaccessible for three months, the library will enable Rosslanders with library cards to take home a LOT of books – and to keep them (“foster” them) until the renovated library opens again.

Starting July 31, holders of an adult card will be able to borrow 100 items and keep them for the duration of the renovations. Children will be able to borrow 25 items.

“It will help us immensely to have foster librarians look after our books,”  said library director Beverley Rintoul. “It means we don’t have to find storage, and our members will be able to use the materials they have borrowed.”

Of course, all borrowers – foster librarians – are responsible for returning in good condition all the books we take out for the three months of construction.

And what about the pressure canner, the dehydrator, and such equipment that’s normally available to borrow at the library?  For more information, contact the library at 250-362-7611 or info@rossland.bclibrary.ca.
