Hike to the peak of Old Glory with the Friends of the Rossland Range...twice if you want to!
You are cordially invited to join the Friends of the Rossland Range on its two 2012 community hikes to Old Glory peak! In the process, you will be able to "learn about the history of the Old Glory Forest Service Lookout, the highest Weather Station in Canada and enjoy a beautiful hike to the highest peak in the Rossland Range."
What's not to like?
If this is something you'd like to do, organizers suggest that you arrive prepared for a strenuous hike of 5-8 hours (total); that you bring A LOT of water, lunch, and that you are prepared to be Bear Aware--so leave those salmon skin lederhosen at home!
Wear layers, bring a jacket, and for goodness sakes, don't wear jeans. Well, cutoffs, if you really must.
You have two dates to choose from, both Saturdays:
- July 28, 2012 and
- August 25, 2012
Please mark your calendars now.
Meet at 9am, at the Old Glory Trailhead, 7 km north of Rossland on Hwy 3B.
Everyone is welcome, FORR member or not!
Please contact Suzanne and Rejean Paquin at 250-362-6809 to confirm if the weather looks iffy.
Also visit the FORR website for more details, contacts, FORR membership and programs.
