The Rossland Council for Arts and Culture will be presenting a Comedy Series in 2016/17. The series will feature four performances ranging from stand-up comedy to musical cabaret which are sure to put the audience in stitches and leave them wanting more.

“With the Miners Hall undergoing renovations, we had to get creative with venues and with the types of performances we are bringing to town this year,” says Tara Kowalchuk, RCAC Executive Administrator. “After the great success of the Vancouver TheatreSports League improv comedy performance last year, we decided to present a comedy series.”

The first performance in the series will be Mike Delamont and his award winning show God is a Scottish Drag Queen, a two-act comedy of biblical proportions. On September 30, God, dressed in a floral power suit, comes to skewer everything from Justin Bieber to the Pope in an unforgettable night of laughter!

On November 5, stand-up comedian Tim Nutt brings his critically acclaimed act to town.  Long-haired, bearded and “rough around the edges”, audiences expect Nutt’s material to match. But he surprises with razored down punch lines and well conjured up premises that place him as one of the top comedians working today.

Ladies, mark February 4 on your calendar and get ready for Bridget Ryan’s Here’s to the Ladies who Laugh. This cabaret is a perfect blend of all that is right in a show: it is part musical theatre, part stand-up comedy and 100% entertaining.

The final performance in the series is the newest offering from a local favourite. Lucas Myers  brings his trademark brand of observational humour and brilliant character work to an examination of the world within a world in Campground: A Murder Mystery in the Woods, on March 4, 2017.

All performances will be held at the Prestige Mountain Resort, with the exception of Mike Delamont which will take place at the RSS auditorium. Doors open at 7:00pm and performances start at 7:30pm. Tickets will be available at Out of the Cellar in Rossland, the Charles Bailey Box Office in Trail, and online at rosslandartscouncil.com.
