Rosslanders who adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines can once again attend meetings of our City Council in person, starting with the July 13 meeting.  Here’s the City’s announcement:

“Pursuant to Ministerial Order No. MO192 – and in particular the requirement for local governments to undertake “Best Efforts” to allow members of the public to attend open meetings in-person while abiding by any Public Health requirement and/or recommendations under the Public Health Act, City Staff have been preparing the Miners’ Union Hall (1765 Columbia Avenue) for re-use in conducting future Regular Council Meetings starting on July 13, 2020.

“ Activities such as placement of temporary signage, installation/availability of hand sanitation stations and social distance seating arrangements have and will be fully implemented. Meetings held at the Miners’ Union Hall are subject to the City’s COVID-19 Pandemic Policy (AD-29) and the Safe Work Procedure outlined for this facility. Individuals attending this location, must adhere to these provisions to limit the spread of COVID-19.

“Alternatively, individuals can send submissions or public feedback to Council via e-mail to council@rossland.ca. Written submissions for the Council Agenda Package must be submitted on or prior to the WEDNESDAY before the scheduled meeting.

“Other submissions will be circulated for general discussion purposes at the meeting. All submissions are subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

“Preventative measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 — including physical distancing, social distancing, staying home if feeling unwell, diligent handwashing, limiting travel, limiting interactions to small groups, and wearing a cloth mask in crowded public spaces (to protect others as well as yourself) should always be considered when visiting our facilities.

“Most of all, please look to be patient and understanding of others. The City of Rossland continues to engage in plans to re-open its facilities to the public, as provincial health guidelines permit.

“For those looking for further information on City actions and initiatives related to the COVID-19 Pandemic, please visit http://www.rossland.ca/covid-19- information-updates or contact City Hall at 250-362-7396. We appreciate the community support and assistance with the safe re-opening of Rossland facilities.”
