While I’m proud of the city we live in, I think we can sharpen it up a little bit. I’m an advocate to restore health care services in this town, including ambulance service and our hospital hours. We need to take a more active role in lobbying the government, and getting them to realize the benefit of the crossroads of the Kootenays.

We also need to look to the future, and get our city ready to hand down to the next generation. In order to do so, we need to update our dated and limited infrastructure. While working for the City, I became very aware of our strengths and weaknesses, and where we need to focus our resources. Our storm sewer system, and sewer system needs upgrading, along with our water supply system. We’re not very efficient, having to pump our water multiple times, increasing our electricity costs. Our road system could also use a little work. Let’s get a solid foundation in place before we start putting money into esthetics.

I have lived in Castlegar all my life. My two brothers and I were raised in a household in north Castlegar, and my youth was spent playing hockey and slow pitch. After graduating high school, my wife and I decided to stay and raise our three children here as well. As comes with raising kids, I’ve been involved in the Castlegar Rebels, as well as coaching and refereeing for minor hockey and minor soccer. I’ve dedicated time to community events and improvements such as the Kinnaird Park Expansion and Dig Dirt Day. I’ve worked for the City of Castlegar since 1978, and have also been a successful businessman in town, having owned and operated multiple businesses.

Accountability, responsibility, and transparency is what I stand for, and what I would like offer to the deserving members of the Castlegar community.
