BlackJack ski team headed to Frozen Thunder in Canmore this past week for the first on snow races of the year.  Canmore stores snow over the summer and then rolls it out on the trails come late October.  This year they had enough snow to be able to have a 2km loop for the athletes to train and race on.

This is a particularly important race for our senior racer, Julien Locke, as the fastest qualifying time in the senior open division would get to go on the World Cup circuit which sets the athlete up well to be chosen for the Olympic team later this year. Julien pulled out all the stops and won the qualifiers so now will be heading over to Europe to start competing. And he came third overall at the end of the King’s Court format sprint.

Some of the rest of the team had some great placings as well.  Remi Drolet, who is still recovering from a concussion finished 4th and Molly Miller who is now training full time with Black Jack finished 3rd.
