Elections 2011 Candidates

Candidate profile: Kathy Moore

I am writing this profile well ahead of the election because I’ll be out of town until November 7th. I am sorry I won’t be able to respond to any questions or comments until after that date but I will be in touch as soon as I return.

Candiate Profile: Tim Thatcher

Unlike many people in Rossland,I was fortunate enough to be born and raised here.My wife Karen and I raised two sons and we have a granddaughter growing up here . Rossland has always been known to have quality schools, abundant recreation opportunities, a great sense of community pride, voluntarism , and a decent relationship with big sister down the hill. These are the qualities we should all be proud of and strive to maintain.

Candidate profile: Jill Spearn

As I seek election for a third term, I consider the next 3 years representing the citizens of Rossland and this special community in rural BC. After recently attending the Union of BC Municipalities convention I realized that being a politician is something I find interesting, energizing and even exciting.

Candidate profile: Kathy Wallace

I first came to Rossland as a young adult, attracted by the fantastic skiing at Red. It so happened that “Liftees Challenge” was underway (remember that event?) and I was immediately immersed in the social network of this unique mountain town.  A few short years and ski trips later, I made the move from Ontario, bought a home, met my husband ,  and we were gifted with 2 sons.

Candidate profile: Sharon Wieder

I grew up in Toronto, Ontario and graduated from York University with a BA in Psychology and an Early Childhood Education diploma from Seneca College.   I married and lived in Buffalo NY for 20 years during which time I obtained a K-12 teaching certificate for the state of New York.  I moved with my soul mate and partner to Rossland in 2006.  We came for the skiing and outdoor opportunities and the relaxed pace of daily life.

Candidate profile: Jody Blomme

My name is Jody Blomme and here are some of the reasons for supporting me in the upcoming elections for City Council. I’m actively involved in the Rossland Lions’ Club and am on the executive boards of the Rossland Legion and the Rossland Mountain Film Festival.  I left my position as Director of Operations of an executive level recruiting firm shortly after discovering Rossland and buying an acreage on the south side of Red Mountain.

Candidate profile: Bob Chamut

Candidate profile: Cary Fisher

I married in Alaska to Melannie Vockeroth while working for National Bank of Alaska in 1995.  While in Alaska I earned a BBA in Economics.

Candidate profile: Laurie Charlton

I’m running for Council because I care about Rossland.  I want to continue to make sure that things are done correctly and fairly to protect the interests of all residents and taxpayers.
