The City of Rossland Adapting to Climate Change Steering Committee is teaming with Green Drinks to bring you an evening of Climate Change Adaptation discussion at the Old Firehall with adaptation experts Stewart Cohen, David Lapp and Hans Schreier (bios below).

Rossland Energy Survey Available Online

Many Rosslanders will have received an Rossland Energy Survey in their mailboxes this week from the City Energy Task Force. For those of you who do not receive junk mail, the survey is available online at www.visionstoaction.ca. The survey will provide the Energy Task Force with key information regarding Rossland's energy use to enable the Task Force to prepare a Community Energy Plan. Individuals who turn in completed surveys by November 30th will be eligible for two prize draws of $100 in gift certificates from Fortis.

International Day of Climate Action - Thanks!

The Sustainability Commission would just like to thank everyone for their participation in the International Day of Climate Action. The event was well attended and was a great success thanks to the efforts of the volunteer organizing committee comprised of Michelle Laurie, Aaron Cosbey, Adam James and Nina Cairns. Thanks also to the performers who came out to share their talents. It is inspiring to know that we have so many talented people in Rossland.

International Day of Climate Action

International Day of Climate Action
Rossland is celebrating the International Day of Climate Action from 7:00 to 10:00 pm on October 24th with Change Shorts – Short Performances on the Subject of Life, Laundry and Climate Change. The International Day of Climate Action will take place in hundreds of iconic places around the world from the Taj Mahal to the Great Barrier Reef. The City of Rossland Sustainability Commission and Columbia Basin Trust are co-sponsoring the event with assistance from Fortis BC, Green Drinks of Rossland and Rossland Rotary. The event will be held at the Miners’ Hall.

Looking for residents interested in participating in Climate Change Adaptation Steering Committee

The Sustainability Commission and City of Rossland are undertaking a Communities Adapting to Climate Change Initiative with the Columbia Basin Trust. The Commission is seeking residents interested in being part of the project Steering Committee. The overarching goals of the project are to research potential climate change impacts in Rossland, establish community priorities for adapting to those impacts and develop action plans in association with those community priorities.

State of Rossland Indicators and Monitoring Public Event - September 24th

This is a reminder of the upcoming Thursday, September 24th State of Rossland: Indicators and Monitoring Public Event at the Miners' Hall. The event will run from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. The Rossland Sustainability Commission welcomes your attendance.
